For the past two decades, Decor + Design has established itself as a premier buying destination for interior products and furniture by taking a 360-degree view of the industry. We have eradicated replicas from the show and encouraged quality. However, we’re now taking a more decisive standpoint around sustainability. With 10,000+ design trade visitors over four days at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, our platform can shape the industry and help it be future-ready.

As Australia joins the world in working towards Net Zero 2050, every cog in the furniture and soft furnishings production process will come under the microscope, with tighter legislation on manufacturing and distribution. In the future, many products will likely need a ‘digital passport’ tracing their provenance for consumers. The latter are increasingly concerned with sustainability, with a “Buy Less, Buy Better” approach. If furniture brands aren’t already listening, they need to be.

In 2023, the theme of the show is Elevate, with an increased focus on Socially Conscious design through the Green Design Hub, curated by Circular Design Thinking. The Hub will tell a story and take visitors on a deep exploration of what sustainability in the design industry truly looks like.

Cosentino is an official sponsor of the 2023 Green Design Hub and will be showcasing Dekton, a versatile carbon-neutral surface. It will also feature beautiful sustainable products available to the industry right now, from brands including Space, Hameland, E9 Design, AH Beard, Zepel, ResiLoop, TRAKS Textile Recycling, Cultivated and more.

Decor + Design 2023 will also be connecting the industry with a ‘Future-Ready Networking Event’ on the afternoon of Saturday 15th July 2023, with a talk between Karie Soehardi of Circular Design Thinking and TV Design Personality James Treble about the extraordinary production of the Green Design Hub, canapés and drinks.

The show will focus on Australian creativity through established features such as VIVID Emerging Designer Awards. Now in its 20th year, it is Australia’s longest running competition for emerging designers and an important platform for rising talent, judged by a line-up of industry heavyweights.

Fundamentally, we will support the Australian design industry to adopt more sustainable practices in a way that is realistic, emphasising transparency, empowerment and progress rather than perfection. Next year we will have stronger sustainable guidelines for exhibitors, with a 2024 Sustainable Design Advisory Committee.

It’s time to get ahead of the curve. Join the Green Design Wave at Decor + Design 2023, 13 – 16 July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Register now as a visitor – entry to the exhibition is free but limited to design trade.

If you’re interested in exhibiting in 2023 or 2024, please register your interest to exhibit and our team will be in touch.
