GlobeWest continue to strengthen their position as one of Australia’s most loved purveyors of furniture and soft furnishings.

Their expansive collections of indoor and outdoor pieces, as well as soft furnishings and homewares, is design-led and known for its polished sophistication.

What gives GlobeWest their edge? It helps that their philosophy, ‘Distinctive Living’, is so much more than just a slogan. Not only is their design aesthetic perfect for the local market, all their products are made with our demanding Australian climate in mind.

A major exhibitor at Decor + Design, Australia’s No.1 Interiors Trade Event, GlobeWest’s beautifully-curated stand is always a highlight for visitors to the show.

2019 to date has been a busy year for the wholesale powerhouse. With  glamorous refurbishments of their showrooms in Brisbane and Adelaide, it has been all systems go!

We spoke with the team about what been happening since we last saw them in 2018, plus got the scoop on what they will be showing at Decor + Design this year, 18 – 21 July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre. They’ll be hosting a huge 144 sqm stand at the show and we can’t wait to see their new pieces! It will be the only opportunity for Australian clients to see all the collections in one place.

First off, what has the last year been like for GlobeWest?

The past year has been a hugely exciting one for us! The Launch of GlobeWest PROJECT has been a highlight.

We have developed strong capabilities servicing commercial furniture needs over the last decade, with many of the country’s leading specifiers choosing our products to create beautiful commercial spaces. But this past year has seen us further refine our processes, add senior product and business development expertise and consolidate our experience across the various sectors from accommodation and hospitality to workspaces, multi-residential development and retirement living.

We are fortunate to work with the country’s finest Interior professionals and this year it has been especially exciting to see so many of our products shine outside of their usual residential setting!

Our focus on producing outdoor furniture collections of the highest taste level that can withstand our climate has been received extremely well by the industry. Feedback has been that we have a strong value proposition, allowing designers to accessibly make a stylish and seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces for their clients.

We’ve further honed our logistics processes, adding additional trucks to major capital cities with white glove installation taking the hassle out of residential and project installs for our customers.

Online customer experience has progressed too with our exclusive trade portal allowing seamless online showroom bookings with and without clients, 24/7 online claiming and spare parts requests, quoting and ordering.

GlobeWest’s recently transformed Brisbane showroom

Our showrooms continue to focus on supporting our trade customers and their clients, helping them capitalise on the brand’s considerable growth with end users. A more holistic showcase of the collection’s diversity can now be experienced by visitors with Adelaide and Brisbane’s footprints doubling and Perth’s presentation refreshed to reflect all facets of the range from Classic to Contemporary.

You released six exciting furniture directions at the Decor + Design show last year. How were they received by the industry?

Thank you. We love sharing our Design Directions at the show and with our trade customers via our showroom event series every year. Our Design team have an innate sense for Australian style, pushing the boundaries in product development and then creating world class lifestyle photography and then beautifully visual merchandising our new products to bring each theme to life.

Each year they set out to reinvent the range, to surprise, delight, inject emotion and we were overjoyed by the reactions from our discerning customers and leading lifestyle media!

The theme of the Australian House & Garden International Seminar Series at Decor + Design in 2019 is ‘Global Village’. GlobeWest are collaborating with AH&G on dressing the seminar theatre stage again this year. How much attention do the GlobeWest design team pay to global trends?

We are thrilled to have AH&G curate some of their favorite pieces from our collection again this year and can’t wait to see what they select. The stage furniture installation always exudes warmth and style – the collaboration is a perfect fit for us given our mutual focus on uniquely Australian living.

There’s certainly a level of attention our team pays to global trends. Creativity absolutely needs to travel and whilst we pay close attention to Australian design, fashion and art, our design and development team closely watch the evolution of style in all pockets of the world, taking inspiration from far and wide.

Actually, whilst I can’t give too much away, one of our new themes which will be launched at Decor+Design will have a distinctly global feel.

Your collections are extensive and cover every facet of indoor and outdoor living. Can you give us a snapshot of the design process?

Of course! Our Design team leads the creative direction for the collection.

It’s vast and diverse, covering all major architectural and interior styles in Australia so as you can imagine it’s an extensive and ongoing process.

The customer always comes first. We consider the overarching influences on the way Australians live.

We know they want quality, timeless products that will enrich their lives – make them excited to come home and make memories with their friends and families.

Themes or Design Directions are developed to cater to each of the primary architectural/ interior styles in Australia.

These are the culmination of ongoing research into colour, form, texture and materials and then combined with our brand aesthetic and insights into how Australians live.

Out of the themes fall collections and products. Sounds so simple…..of course it’s anything but!

We are also constantly re-inventing existing collections with new styles, materials and finishes. We are proud that so many of our collections become ongoing favorites – whilst we are focused on progression and love delivering newness to inspire our customers, we still offer many products that were in our inaugural collection back in 2004!
