Maison & Objet is one of the world’s most important trade events for the interior design and furniture industry. With two editions taking place annually in Paris, it is a mecca for the global design trade, with 60,000+ visitors to every show. Paris Design Week now runs a satellite program in tandem with the exhibition, with satellite events and showroom openings scattered throughout the city.

The September 2025 edition of Maison & Objet was curated by Creative Director Amélie Pichard, with the theme of ‘Welcome Home’, celebrating warmth, creative expression, wellbeing, accessibility and design as a medium of storytelling.

There is a substantial international presence at Maison, and approximately 2,500 exhibitors per edition. The event also attracts a multitude of journalists and influencers.

Decor + Design’s Creative Director Skye Rytenskild attended the September edition to gain inspiration for the 22nd edition of Decor + Design in Melbourne, 15 – 17 July 2026.

“The tone of this edition of Maison & Objet was playful and oh-so-very French. With major brands from all over the globe, it is a must-attend event from a networking and buying perspective, as well as a font of creative inspiration. Here are five key trends I picked up from my visit to M&O 2025…”

#1 Whimsical Glassware

Table décor has shifted towards the joyful and unexpected. Think candy-coloured hues and curvaceous, bulbous silhouettes in glass; each piece designed to surprise or delight, adding a playful note to everyday rituals. The object becomes an experience, inviting you to connect with your inner child.

#2 Mirrors as Art

Mirrors were presented as sculptural art objects. Oversized, irregularly shaped pieces with textured or ornate framing were designed to command attention and spark reflection – literally and figuratively. They’re a great way to inject drama into a space.

#3 Earthy Lighting

There were some beautiful earthenware pendants at the show. Textural and handmade, their grounding aesthetic lends authenticity and tactility to interiors. I loved these particularly beautiful examples from Marcel & Mogador, made to order in the South of France.

Also in lighting…woven, bulbous, organic forms were harnessed to superb impact, with oversized pendants that felt like sculptural art, bringing warmth and curves into a room.

#4 Styled-Up Wellness

Wellness tools and tricks have been lifted from spas and entered the home, with home saunas and integrated wellness paraphernalia that make self-care and holistic living an intuitive part of your day.

#5 Nature Motifs

Gentle, muted shades of green appeared throughout the fair, like a seam of beautiful moss. Green could be seen on upholstery, ceramics, lighting, and accessories. Variable shades evoke serenity and blur the boundaries between the home interior and the natural world.

There were also a multitude of references on homewares through botanical pictures and sea creatures were swimming through the exhibition in table ware and vases.
