GlobeWest know how to make heads turn! Their gorgeous, 144 sqm stand at the 2019 Decor + Design show in July was busier than Bourke St Mall, as visitors streamed through to take a first look at the 28 new indoor and outdoor furniture collections on display. They weren’t disappointed, discovering a sophisticated display of pieces which both reflect and complement our Australian landscape and lifestyle.

Since its inception in 2004, GlobeWest have grown to become one of Australia’s biggest suppliers to the Australian interiors industry. This success has been bolstered by a strong design team who have an innate ability to predict what the market wants, plus balance a beautiful aesthetic with the needs of the demanding Australian climate.

With thoughtful colour palettes and materials that tap into global directions, GlobeWest’s pieces are forward-thinking without ever being faddish.

We asked them about their experience this year at Australia’s No.1 Interiors Trade Event, plus for a recap of visitors’ favourite pieces.

Once again, GlobeWest’s exhibition stand was a highlight of Decor + Design. We had some major buyers coming through the exhibition centre. What was the show experience like this year?

The show was incredible this year! There’s no better place to have thousands of designers and retailers en masse come visit us and see our latest collections. It was a great opportunity to also see our customers face-to-face. We love taking them on a journey through our new products and design directions. It’s so rewarding seeing it all come to life after almost a year of preparation.

We were also excited to share our project experience across diverse commercial industry sectors including Accommodation, Multi-Residential Development, Hospitality, Property Staging, Retirement Living, Workplaces, Show Homes & Landscape Design.

You launched 28 new collections at the show, including indoor and outdoor ranges. What were some of the key influences behind these collections?

There were three overarching design and product development influences that kept coming up for us. These included a desire for human connection, the wonders of nature and the increasing need for stillness and balance.

Striking round and oval forms invite connectivity, promoting face-to-face conversation. Natural elements continue their importance, bringing a sense of familiarity whilst a muted colour palette celebrates our varied landscape in a harmonious, very liveable way. Terracotta and rouge hues, golden highlights, soft beiges, cobalt blue, matte blacks, greens, and chocolate browns also feature.

Double pillowing and ultra-soft materials summon relaxation whilst cocoon-like forms bring a sense of embrace. Sculptural silhouettes in bold, coloured marble ground spaces, making a minimalist statement.

Tell us about your new homeware ranges…

We launched five new homeware collections this year, another increase on last year.

Key features from our new homewares include warm terrazzo, tactile wool blends, earthy tones and handcrafted terracotta designs.

Made from 100% linen covers, our new Lottie cushions and throws come in bright bold colours and are perfect for injecting colour into your home.

Suki features tassel cushions and throws as well as beautiful handcrafted earthenware in terracotta and matte black. Then we have Iggy & Tepih, both feature new rug patterns of Moroccan design (Iggy) and ribbed stitch weaving (Tepih).

Lastly there’s Alfie, our latest decorative collection for the kitchen, with white terrazzo finishes and speckles of soft mustard across platters, bowls, cheeseboards and more.

Were there any pieces that proved particularly popular at the show?

We had some amazing responses to our Collections 2020 this year. Visitors loved the oval form and concrete finish of our outdoor collection, Ossa.

Our Humphrey Tia 3 Seater Sofa certainly caught everyone’s attention featuring a bold geometric pattern and curved arms.
