Over the past couple of years, there have been more curves shown off in furniture showrooms than on a Kardashian Instagram feed. From Milan to Melbourne, furniture is throwing shapes. Evoking the nostalgia of the 1970s, circular sofas, chairs and coffee tables abound in colours which tap into a retro palette. Think shades of burnt orange, mahogany and white.

This direction has a more feminine aesthetic than the industrial, sleek lines that dominated the previous decade. The curves beckon softly, enveloping inhabitants in a cocoon. It’s an excellent way to add visual intrigue to a room, with the added benefit of comfortable ergonomics and the lowered likelihood of banning your knee on a pointy table edge.

Here are three stunning, shapely pieces we love, from three of our favourite exhibitors at Decor + Design 2024, 17th – 19th July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

BUBULAND HOME

Bubuland Home is a Melbourne-based haven for exquisite furniture and homewares. Recognised widely by retailers and trusted in the design industry, Bubuland Home specialise in bespoke solutions and provide up to a 10-year warranty on their pieces. Their commitment to sustainability drives them to create collections that minimise waste while embodying timeless luxury.

The Bubuland Home team scours the corners of the design world to bring their clients a selection that is sophisticated, elegant and timeless. We adore this shapely sofa (above) in a stunning orange; a true statement piece which will completely transform a space.

RAFFINE

A family-owned Australian brand that redefines elegance and innovation, RAFFINE skillfully merges high-end luxury with
accessible sophistication.

Embracing refined elegance and contemporary design, RAFFINE unites its heritage in design and furniture making with artisanal craftsmanship and contemporary style. Their pieces – such as the sofa pictured at the very top of this article – are a celebration of statement pieces that distinctively enhance any space.

We also love the Sia Side Table (right), crafted from Japanese Oak. The artful arrangement of the three ball pieces nestled between two circular elements creates a unique and captivating design.

CANE-LINE

Cane-line is a Danish design company with over 35 years of experience in designing and manufacturing functional and comfortable furniture. The company constantly focuses on quality, innovative technologies and comfort in both products and life.

Cane-line has amazing customers all over the world, including hotels from New York, London, Dubai and Fiji, restaurants and cruise ships. They choose Cane-line because they have over three decades of experience in the design and manufacture of weatherproof, functional and comfortable furniture, where quality is paramount.

We love this Curve Lounge Chair (left). Designed by Danish designer duo Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD, Curve is quite unique in its design and aesthetic. The chair is sculpted in durable weather-resistant Cane-line Weave® material on an aluminium frame.
