A man of many (no doubt stylish) hats, American design superstar Nate Berkus established his award-winning interior design firm at the tender age of 24. Since then, his elevated but approachable design philosophy has transformed countless homes across the world through his interior design work, home collections, books, television shows and media appearances. Ever since Nate’s first appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2002, he has become one of the world’s most recognisable interior designers.

Nate’s work has been featured in many publications including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Harper’s Bazaar, VOGUE, InStyle, O Magazine and People. He is included on the ELLE DÉCOR “A-List” of the world’s top designers and was named to the AD100 list in 2018.

Decor + Design 360 is your chance to get up close and personal with Nate, who will be LIVE for 50 minutes Q & A at 10am AEST on September 30th, as part of the Australian House & Garden International Seminar Series, in conversation with Editor-in-Chief Tanya Buchanan.

Get the inside scoop on some of Nate’s favourite projects, how he approaches a new client and the inspirations behind his gorgeous collections.

In the lead up to the event, we asked Nate a few questions about his design rules…plus which designer he’d choose to be in lockdown with!

How would you define the ‘Nate Berkus aesthetic’?

Well-travelled, layered, and rooted in things that have both history and patina.

What’s one design rule you live by?

Your home should tell your story, and the way we do that is through our things.

Which artist or designer from history would you choose to be in isolation with?

Yves Saint Laurent.

Why is interior design important for the world right now?

Our homes have never been more of a sanctuary…a place to feel safe, protected and loved.
