‘Mindfull’ By Haymes Paint
Since its founding in 1935, Haymes Paint has remained proudly family-owned and operated, embedding care, character, and integrity into every aspect of its business. From its unwavering dedication to Australian-made products and its leadership in sustainability and innovation, Haymes Paint has built a legacy of excellence that resonates with homeowners and the design community alike.
We spoke to the Haymes Paint team to delve into the inspirations behind their famous paint ranges and the services they offer to the design industry.
Haymes Paint has been a family-owned and operated business since 1935. How has being family-run shaped the company’s values and approach to the paint industry?
As we celebrate 90 years in 2025, being a family-owned business is embedded in everything we do. We’re a values-driven company that makes decisions with care, character, and the same integrity that’s been passed down through generations of the Haymes family.

That character is evident in the quality of our paint, the service we provide, and the trust we’ve built with our partners and customers across the country. We back our products because we believe in them. We support our people because they’re part of the Haymes Paint family too. And we’ll always keep listening and evolving; just like a true family does!
Your commitment to Australian-made products is a key part of your identity. Why is it important for Haymes Paint to remain locally owned and manufactured?
We’re proudly Australian made and owned – and that’s one of the foundations of our business. It underpins the quality of our products, our innovation in paint technology, our investment in new manufacturing facilities in Ballarat, our nationwide store network, and our partnerships with suppliers and stockists. Being an Australian-owned family business goes to the heart of who we are.
Sustainability is a growing concern for consumers. How does Haymes Paint address environmental responsibility in its products and practices?
Haymes Paint is a leader in this space. We focus on high-quality, water-based paints with extremely low VOCs that are better for both people and the planet. A number of our products hold Global Green Tag environmental certification. Our manufacturing processes are designed to minimise waste, conserve water and energy, and we’ve invested millions in on-site renewable energy and water capture systems.

Boundless Blue By Haymes Paint
For customers looking to choose the perfect paint for their project, what advice would you give them to ensure they achieve the best results?
Find colour inspiration before heading to the paint store! Speak to the experts in the store about the surface/substrate and they’ll set you up for success.
Once you’ve chosen a colour theme, sample pots are the most accurate way to test colour in a space. Paint test swatches on different areas of the room to see how the colour behaves under natural light, artificial light, and shadows throughout the day. Live with it for a few days, then make your final decision.
What’s next for Haymes Paint? Are there any upcoming innovations, products, or initiatives you’re excited to share?
Our Boundless Blue launch is showcasing our specialist capabilities in colour, reinforcing our reputation for unbeatable quality and innovation — especially within the design sector. We’ve seen great success with a series of new product releases, including our Ultra Premium Trimplus acrylic enamel, which performs like a solvent-based enamel without the mess, yellowing, or harsh cleanup.
